WHAT IS THE NIGHT OF MUSEUMS?

 

The Night of Museums (Múzéj) is a cultural program that started in 1999 following the French example and has been held in Hungary every year since 2003. A special feature of the program is that by purchasing one ticket (an armband), the programs of all participating institutions can be viewed that night. # MUSEUM2022

 

WHEN IS THE NIGHT OF THE MUSEUMS?

 

This year, the Night of the Museums will be held on June 25, 2022. The program officially starts at 6pm, but some museums, like the Hospital in the Rock, are open from 10am. Participation in programs before 6pm may be subject to individual conditions.

 

WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS TO PARTICIPATE IN MÚZÉJ PROGRAMS IN 2022?

 

Visiting the museum and participating in the event is not subject to a certificate of COVID protection. It is not obligatory to wear a face mask in the museum, but it is recommended to use masks in the underground, narrow spaces.

Attention! It is not allowed to visit the Hospital in the Rock under the age of 6 and is not recommended under the age of 12.

 

HOW MUCH DOES THE NIGHT OF THE MUSEUM ARMBAND COST?

 

The adult armband costs HUF 2,200 and the child (under the age of 18) costs HUF 1,000. The armband can be used to attend the programs of all participating institutions between 18:00 and 24:00 (participation in programs organized before 18:00 is usually subject to some conditions).

In 2022, on the Night of Museums, Ukrainian refugees (with the presentation of a document certifying refugee status or a passport) and people with disabilities (with the certificate of disability SINOS, MVGYOS, MEOS, ÉPOÉSZ, SVOE, AOSZ) can participate the programs free of charge, without a wristband.
(Other free admission is not available during Night of the Museums.)

HOW TO BUY AN ARMBAND?

 

You can buy your armband for the program with fix date for the Hospital in the Rock program, to avoid the queuing. You can buy the armbands in advance online in our webshop (from 25/5/2022) or in the museum (from 13/6/2022).

How to pick-up your online armbands?

  • in advance in person at the museum during opening hours (every day from 10:00 to 18:00 from 08/06/2022 until 24/06/2022)
  • at our Information Desk before the Hospital in the Rock on 25/06/2022 from 10:00 until 23:00
  • by post, priority letter (last mailed: 06/21/2022; only available in Hungary!)OPTION CLOSED, YOU CAN PICK-UP YOUR ORDERED ARMBANDS AT THE MUSEUM.

 

How to buy an armband on the spot?

You can buy your armband at the Hospital in the Rock on 25/6/2022 from 10AM until 11PM. Please note, that if you buy your ticket on the spot, you can participate the program in in order of arrival (before 6PM only with armbands purchased at Hospital in the Rock, between 6 – 12PM with armbands purchased anywhere after). Last guided tour starts at 11PM (we might close the queue around 9:30-10PM, depending on the number of people in line). Waiting time without reservation based on the experience of previous years might be about 0.5 – 2.5 hours (the longest queue is allways in the evening – our maximum capacity is 30 people per 15 minutes).

 

All of our staff will work to get more people involved in the program, please be patient and understanding!

TRADITION OF VOLUNTEERING – The main theme of this year’s the Museums program at the Hospital in the Rock Museum is the presentation of the tradition of volunteering. During World War II and the 1956 revolution, a huge number of volunteers assisted in saving lives in the hospital. We focus on the tradition they represent and the invaluable work of today’s volunteers in cooperation with the Hungarian Red Cross.

Feel free to ask the representatives of the Hungarian Red Cross about volunteering, the tasks and opportunities to be performed, and you can even apply to be volunteer on the spot! Free outdoor program in Hungarian.

 

10:00 – 20:00 HEALTH SCREENING PROGRAM – PAST AND NOW

The Hungarian Red Cross Health Screening Program with modern and traditional tools (blood pressure and heart rate measurement, cholesterol and blood sugar measurement, body weight and height, and body fat percentage measurement). Free outdoor program in Hungarian.

 

10:00 – 23:00 WHITE DOVE FOLDING

Fold together 1000 white paper doves to represent the value of peace. Free outdoor program.

 

10:00 – 24:00 THE TRADITION OF VOLUNTEERING IN THE HOSPITAL IN THE ROCK – guided tour

During the program, we present the history of the Hospital in the Rock through the stories of the volunteers. Length of the interactive guided tour: 45-60 minutes. Maximum group size: 30 people.

 

HOW TO PARTICIPATE THE PROGRAM?

Guided tours start in 15-30 minutes between 10AM – 12PM (last entry at 11PM)

BETWEEN 10AM – 6PM –  60 minutes long live guided tour, entry only with armbands purchased in the Hospital in the Rock (in advance online in our webshop or on the spot). If you would like to avoid queuing buy your ticket for fix program in advance. Please note, if you buy your ticket on the spot, you can participate the tour in order of arrival.

BETWEEN 6PM – 12PM – 45-60 minutes long guided tour, entry with all armbands. It is not possible to book an appointment with armbands that you purchased elsewhere or with a professional armband. With theese armbands you can participate in the program in the order of arrival. Please note that due to limited capacity, we can only guarantee entry and avoid queuing for those who make an appointment in advance at the Hospital in the Rock.
